In some regions, fishmongers call it "yellow sea bream pomfret" to boost its market value. True pomfrets belong to a different family (Stromateidae). Golden pompano (Trachinotus blochii) has a distinctive black dorsal fin and pelvic fins that sparkle with orange‑red metallic luster, whereas silver pomfret is silvery white with a black back.

02.What is the best way to thaw frozen golden pompano?

Avoid violent thawing – never soak the fish in hot water, as this will make the flesh woody and destroy its freshness.
