Product Details
Frozen Barramundi-known scientifically as Lates calcarifer-goes by many names: Asian seabass, silver sea perch, or simply "the sustainable seabass". It's a fish that has earned a loyal following among chefs and home cooks alike, and once you've cooked with it, it's easy to understand why.
Native to the Indo-West Pacific region, from the Persian Gulf through Southeast Asia to northern Australia, barramundi has been a staple in local cuisines for generations. These days, most of the barramundi on the global market comes from responsible aquaculture operations in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The fish are raised in coastal net pens or ponds, harvested at peak condition, and processed quickly to lock in freshness .
What sets barramundi apart is its remarkable forgiving nature in the kitchen-it's one of those rare fish that stays moist even if you accidentally overcook it . The flesh is firm, with large, moist flakes and a sweet, buttery flavour that's never overpowering. It's often compared to seabass or snapper but with a slightly richer mouthfeel thanks to its healthy fat content.
We offer barramundi in several forms to suit different market needs: whole round (gilled and gutted), skin-on fillets, skinless boneless portions, and even specialised cuts like belly pieces. All products are individually quick frozen (IQF) or blast-frozen shortly after processing, which preserves the natural texture and flavour.

Key Nutritional Benefits
Lean protein powerhouse
With 20–32g protein per 100g, barramundi provides all essential amino acids for muscle maintenance and repair, at a relatively low calorie cost.
Heart-healthy omega-3s
The EPA and DHA content supports cardiovascular health, brain function, and healthy inflammation response. The omega-3 level is notably high for a white fish-comparable to some salmon species.
Low in saturated fat
At just 1–2g per serving, it's a heart-friendly choice that fits well with low-fat and low-cholesterol diets.
Excellent vitamin D source
One serving can provide around 80% of the daily recommended intake of vitamin D, which is crucial for bone health and immune function.
Naturally low sodium
With only 35–50mg sodium per serving, it's suitable for low-salt diets. Any added salt comes from preparation, not the fish itself.
Zero carbohydrates
Naturally carb-free, making it suitable for keto, paleo, and low-carb eating plans.
