Block Quick Frozen (BQF) Round Scad offers a practical and cost‑effective solution for high‑volume processors, wholesalers, and food manufacturers. Harvested from nutrient‑rich tropical waters using environmentally responsible purse‑seine nets, our catch is rushed to the processing plant within hours of landing. After rigorous cleaning, size‑sorting, and gutting, the fish are layered into rectangular moulds and frozen solid at ‑35°C in a blast freezer. This block‑freezing method locks the fish into dense, uniform blocks, maximising container space and reducing shipping costs per kilogram. Unlike IQF, the frozen block protects the fish from dehydration and oxidation during long‑haul transport, making it ideal for large‑scale importers who prioritise storage efficiency. Upon thawing, the fish release cleanly from the block and retain their characteristic firm, lean flesh and mild oceanic taste. BQF round scad is particularly favoured for further processing-such as marinating, canning, or producing fishmeal and surimi-as well as for institutional catering where whole fish are cooked in bulk. Nutritionally, it delivers high protein, heart‑healthy omega‑3s, and essential minerals including phosphorus and selenium.
